„More than Honey“ wird ein Film über Bienen und Imker, Pollen und Honig, Biologie und Business. Im Zuge der Recherchen für diesen Film haben wir viele Menschen getroffen, die mit und für die Bienen leben, wir haben viele spannende Geschichten gehört und sehr viel gelernt – viel mehr, als wir je in einem Film unterbringen können, was wir aber trotzdem unbedingt teilen möchten. Darum gibt es nun dieses Blog – ein Tagebuch von der Entstehung eines Bienenfilms.
In den nächsten Monaten werden wir hier von unseren Recherchen in aller Welt berichten, von den technischen Vorbereitungen für die Bienenfotografie, natürlich von den Dreharbeiten und auch von inhaltlichen Fragen, die uns gerade beschäftigen.
Unsere Hoffnung ist, dass dies außerdem ein Ort für Diskussionen wird und dass die Meinungen und Anregungen aus dem „Schwarm“ auch in den Film zurückfließen. Wir sind selber keine Imker (noch nicht!) und auch wenn wir von einigen ausgewiesenen Experten beraten werden, sind wir für Vorschläge und Kommentare immer offen. Die Bienen sind ein komplexes Thema und wir freuen uns über jede Hilfe, die wir kriegen können, um einen wirklich guten Film zu machen.
„More than Honey“ will be a film about bees and beekeepers, about pollen and honey, about biology and business. This blog is about making this film. About the people we meet, the problems we face, the things we learn. About a work in progress.
We are fascinated by the world of bees and beekeeping and already we are having way too much material for any one film! And new things come up every day. The whole project is still evolving. So we decided to set up this blog and share with you some of our experiences.
It will be a space mostly for the things that will not make it into the movie, as interesting or entertaining as they might be. With this blog, we want to make sure they don’t get lost.
Also, we want to show you some of our work behind the scenes, when we meet beekeepers and scientists around the globe and try to get the right shots of the right bees doing the right thing at the right time.
We also hope that this will be a place of discussion. We are no beekeepers ourselves (yet) and although we are supported by some great experts, we very much appreciate additional comments and opinions and hope that you will help us to navigate a complex field and to make the best film we can.
Wer?
Der Regisseur des Films ist Markus Imhoof aus der Schweiz. Die Produzenten sind Ormenis Film (CH), Thelma Film (CH), zero one film (D) und Allegro Film (A).
Mein Name ist Kerstin Hoppenhaus und ich bin die Co-Autorin des Projekts. Ich werde die meisten Blogbeiträge hier verfassen, denn wir gehen im Moment davon aus, dass ich diejenige im Team sein werde, die während der Dreharbeiten am ehesten Luft hat. Wir werden sehen.
Zur Zeit befasse ich mich vor allem mit Recherche und Konzeption: Menschen, Fakten, Orte und immer wieder Bienen – höchst faszinierend, manchmal auch verwirrend und manchmal ziemlich überwältigend.
Die Meinungen, die in diesem Blog geäußert werden, sind meine eigenen und repräsentieren nicht notwendigerweise die des Regisseurs, der Produzenten oder anderer Teammitglieder, sofern nicht ausdrücklich anders vermerkt.

Who?
The director of the film is Markus Imhoof from Switzerland. The film is co-produced by Ormenis Film (CH), Thelma Film (CH), zero one film (Germany) and Allegro Film (Austria).
Most of the blogposts here will be written by me, Kerstin Hoppenhaus. I am the co-author of the project and we somehow assume that I will be the person most likely to have some time to spare during the shooting. We will see how this turns out.
At the moment, I do a lot of research: people, facts, locations – very fascinating, sometimes confusing, and sometimes quite overwhelming, too.
